New Dracula tour to start in Cheltenham

“Most terrifying staging ever”: Dracula

A new adaptation of Bram Stoker’s bloodthirsty tale Dracula is to go on a nine-week tour and will have its world première at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.

The Touring Consortium is producing Dracula in association with the Everyman and Ewing Entertainment, giving it “its most terrifying staging ever”.

Dracula will be produced by Matthew Gale who returns to the Touring Consortium and renews his professional relationship with producer Jenny King who has adapted the novel for the stage. It will be her first play.

Their long-standing professional relationship includes collaborations on Mike Kenny’s The Railway Children at Waterloo Station in 2014 which won an Olivier Award for best entertainment and the tour of Slava’s Snow Show in 2007.

Eduard Lewis directs this new adaptation which is designed by Sean Cavanagh and lit by Ben Cracknell. Cleo Pettitt is costume designer. Music and sound design is by Paul Ewin. Sara Green is movement director. Illusions will be by Ben Hart.

Dracula runs at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham from Friday 28 September until Saturday 6 October. It then visits the Theatre Royal Nottingham, Churchill Theatre Bromley, New Theatre Hull, King’s Theatre Edinburgh, Darlington Hippodrome, Blackpool Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre and the Alhambra Theatre Bradford until Saturday 1 December.
