New Oklahoma! production to start in Northampton

A new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s award-winning musical Oklahoma! is to open at Northampton’s Derngate before touring the UK and Ireland.

The cast will be led by Belinda Lang as Aunt Eller, Gary Wilmot as Ali Hakim, Ashley Day as Curly, Charlotte Wakefield as Laurey and Nic Greenshields as Jud Fry.

Former artistic director of Birmingham REP Rachel Kavanaugh directs, with choreography by Drew McOnie. Musical director will be Steve Ridley, set and costumes will be designed by Francis O’Connor, lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Ben Harrison.

Oklahoma! will be presented by Music and Lyrics, a nationwide consortium consisting of some of the UK’s major independent touring theatres, and Northampton Royal and Derngate.

The musical opens in Northampton from Thursday 19 until Saturday 28 February. It then tours to Wolverhampton, Salford, Dublin, Bradford, Southampton, Crawley, Bath, Truro, Cheltenham, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Newcastle, Birmingham, Bristol, Sheffield and High Wycombe until 8 August.
