Regional Young Actors' Ensemble

Newcastle's Live Theatre, Derby Theatre and Hull Truck are to establish a Regional Young Actors' Ensemble for young people between 18 and 25 which will provide them with the vocational training to help them to develop a career in acting. The Ensemble is supported by Hull UK City of Culture 2017.

North East auditions will take place on:

  • Monday 24 April (2-4PM) at Sunderland Empire Theatre
  • Wednesday 26 April (2-4PM) at The Gala Theatre in Durham
  • Friday 28 April (4-6PM) at Alnwick Playhouse
  • Tuesday 2 May (12-2PM) at Live Theatre

For successful applicants, each partner venue will host a series of residencies, including an intensive programme of masterclasses, devising and rehearsing for performance. Travel, accommodation and food will be provided at no cost to the participants on the programme.

As part of the programme, the ensemble will present and perform a piece as part of the Hull UK City of Culture 2017 celebrations which will be directed by Sarah Brigham, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Derby Theatre.

Anyone interested in auditioning should e-mail Sarah-Louise Penney at Hull Truck Theatre for an application form at [email protected].

Successful participants from the North East will need to be available from 29 May to 2 June for a week's residency at Live Theatre and for the final performance in Hull between 20 and 27 August 2017.
