Witches, vampires, men in black and a little old lady will be in evidence at Newcastle-under-Lyme’s New Vic Theatre during spring 2015.
The season begins with John van Druten’s Bell, Book and Candle. Former New Vic artistic director Gwenda Hughes directs this tale about three witches, a bewildered young man and a wicket cat which is described as a “deliciously dark tale of treachery and enchantment that will leave you spellbound”. It runs at the New Vic from 14 until 28 February.
Current artistic director Theresa Heskins adapts and directs Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. It “combines imaginative staging and her trademark theatrical intervention with spectacular flying sequences and specially commissioned music”. It can be seen from 6 until 28 March.
The John Godber Company and Theatre Royal Wakefield visit north Staffordshire with Godber’s Bouncers, voted one of the greatest plays of the 20th century, from 31 March until 4 April.
The New Vic and Hull Truck will then get together to stage a new adaptation by Graham Linehan of the Ealing classic The Ladykillers. It runs from 10 April until 2 May.
More information about the season is available at the New Vic web site.
