New Vic, Newcastle-under-LymeNewcastle-under-Lyme venue the New Vic is on the hunt for people’s memories for a celebration of its 50th anniversary.

People are being invited to share their treasures and stories during a “bring in day” at the New Vic on Saturday (26 May) between 10am and 4pm ahead of an exhibition charting the theatre’s life.

The exhibition will form part of the Ages and Stages project, a partnership between the New Vic and Keele University exploring the theatre’s role in community life.

Head of New Vic Education Jill Rezzano, who works on the Ages and Stages project, said loans of tickets, scripts and costumes would be welcomed as well as more unusual items.

She said, “We’ve been working with Keele University to commemorate and celebrate the special place the New Vic has held in the North Staffordshire community over the past 50 years.

“We want to know about your connections with the New Vic - it could be a photograph of your husband or wife or a wedding photograph because maybe you met or used to come on dates here.

“You may have worked here so it could be a payslip or even a bus ticket to get here.”

The New Vic’s head of design Lis Evans, who’s in charge of the exhibition, added, “It’s going to be an eclectic scrapbook of objects and materials on loan from the general public as well as some exciting material from our own archive.”

The exhibition will run at the New Vic from Monday, 25 June until Saturday, 21 July.
