New Director at Newbury's Corn Exchange Newbury's Corn Exchange has announced the appointment of Nick Giles as the new Director of The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts. He is currently Deputy Director of Oxford Playhouse and Chairman of Hextable Dance, and will take up his post in the New Year. Lord Carnarvon, Chairman of The Corn Exchange Board, who led the recruitment process, said, "I am delighted that Nick has accepted our offer and look forward to working with him. Whilst the decision to appoint Nick was unanimous, we were very pleased with the level of interest in the position and the calibre of candidates." Nick Giles said, "I feel extremely privileged and excited to be given the opportunity to build on the success of The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts; I look forward to continuing the varied and inspiring programme at both venues." The current Director of The Corn Exchange, Martin Sutherland, is leaving to become Chief Executive of the Royal & Derngate theatres in Northampton. He said, "It's great news that Nick has agreed to join the excellent team here as my successor. I have known him for a number of years and have admired his work at London's Riverside Studios and at Oxford Playhouse. I am certain that this appointment will enable The Corn Exchange and New Greenham Arts to continue to thrive."
