George Orwell's dystopian tale 1984, which started as a co-production between Nottingham Playhouse and Headlong, is to open in New York.

The adaptation by Robert Icke and Duncan Macmillan enjoyed two runs at Nottingham Playhouse, two UK tours, two stints in the West End and a sell-out run at the Almeida Theatre. It will open at the Hudson Theatre in New York in June.

Nottingham Playhouse chief executive Stephanie Sirr said, “1984 has been enjoyed by audiences across the world since its creation at the Playhouse. A Broadway run is a really exciting development for Nottingham’s work and profile.”
