Dateline: 23rd November, 2003 Cinders Goes to the Ball - but How? A ban on animals threatened to prevent Cinderella going to the ball - but two masters of illusion have been called in to conjure up a breathtaking special effect to get her there. In previous years Nottingham's Theatre Royal used Shetland ponies to draw Cinderella's carriage. However, Nottingham City Council has introduced a charter which doesn't allow animals to perform at its venues for entertainment purposes. So panto audiences will see the pumpkin and cage of mice turn into a modern mode of transport which is being kept under wraps until first night. Theatre Royal spokesman Jonathan Savile commented: "We're pleased to announce that world-renowned illusionists Paul and Gary Hardy-Brown will be joining the cast to confound and amaze our audience with their own unique brand of magic. "The identical twins can make all manner of large-scale objects disappear and materialise in a matter of seconds, including elephants and luxury yachts. You'll just have to come and see the show to find out what we have in store for Cinders." The twins will appear in Cinderella alongside Bobby Davro, Alex Lovell and Danny La Rue. The panto runs from December 13th until January 25th. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
