A Glamorous Night at the Novello Glamorous Night: The Musicals of Ivor Novello, a co-production between the Wales Millennium Centre and George Daugherty (of the Sinfonia Brittania) and David Lik Wong, which played at the Cardiff venue last November and in San Francisco in February, si to have a one-off gala performance at the West End's Novello Theatre on Sunday 10th September. It stars Welsh soprano and Con Passionate star Shan Cothi and Welsh tenor Rhys Meirion, along with Marilyn Hill Smith, Rosemary Ashe and Richard Reynard, and George Daugherty conducts the Sinfonia Brittania. The evening will showcase Novello's greatest hits including Glamorous Night, Waltz Of My Heart, On Such A Night As This, I Can Give You The Starlight, When The Gypsy Played, Some Day My Heart Will Awake, We'll Gather Lilacs and, of course, the song which made him famous almost overnight, Keep The Home Fires Burning. Ivor Novello lived in a flat above what is now the Novello Theatre (formerly The Strand) from 1913 to 1951, and actually died there. Tickets are £25, £40 and £55, and there are Super Seat tickets available at £95 which will include a pre-concert reception including champagne at the Waldorf Hilton.
