Aphabetti is 6

Newcastle’s fringe theatre Alphabetti is six years old on Saturday 1st September.

“What a brilliant 6 years it's been!” the theatre tweeted. “Full of highs and lows and we couldn't thank you lot enough for all your support and love you have given us over the years!”

So the venue is joining its regular new work evening, Alphabetti Soup, with a sixth birthday party, starting at 7:30.

The programme includes poetry from Kirsten Luckins. Producer in the north for spoken word organisation Apples and Snakes, Burning Eye published poet, former BBC Slam finalist, and occasional theatre-maker, she offers a unique blend of poetic subject matter from outrage to otters. Lots of otters. Probably too many otters. But some of them are revolutionary Marxists, so that's ok.

There will also be a new play, #MeToo, from Richard Stockwell, directed by Rachael Walsh, and a bonus second new play, 39 Horses, written and performed by Izaak Geldhill.

Your taxi has been booked. When getting from A to B, sometimes you discover more than just your destination. Let’s explore what the public have to say about public transporters. Surely there is more to a Taxi driver than a gear stick and an alarmingly fast meter? Your taxi is arriving…

This piece is for a maximum audience of four at a time and will be taking place upstairs in the office/rehearsal room area, which means that it is not accessible, for which the thetare apologises unreservedly.

There’ll also be music and comedy (performers to be announced) and the first 50 people will get free soup. Tickets are £8 Full Price / £6 Concession (Student, OAP, Artist, Unwaged).
