Newly rebranded NST, Nuffield Southampton Theatres' new season includes The Grapes of Wrath

Theatre highlights of the new season at Nuffield Southampton Theatres are an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel The Grapes of Wrath by Frank Galati, Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion and Now-here, a series of performances from local refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

The Grapes of Wrath is directed by NST associate director Abbey Wright featuring live music and an ensemble made up of Southampton residents.

This is a co-production with Nottingham Playhouse, Royal & Derngate, Northampton and West Yorkshire Playhouse, who have also worked together on a series of initiatives in support of refugees, asylum seekers and migrant communities in their respective cities including free ticket schemes, workshops and performance opportunities.

Headlong and West Yorkshire Playhouse co-production Pygmalion is directed by Sam Pritchard.

The season starts this week with two in-house NST Youth Theatre productions, Consensual by Evan Placey and The Monstrum by Kellie Smith, both directed by Max Lindsay, and continues with

  • The Grapes Of Wrath — 6 to 25 March
  • Now-Here — 10 to 13 April
  • Pygmalion — 25 April to 13 May

In anticipation of the new theatre venue opening later this year in central Southampton, the Nuffield Theatre has been rebranded NST, Nuffield Southampton Theatres.
