A Midsummer Night's Dream

Trevor Nunn's production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will open at Ipswich's New Wolsey Theatre on 16 June 2016, marking both the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and the theatre's 15th birthday.

Matt Rawle and Fiona Hampton will lead both the human and fairy courts in the now-common doubling of Oberon and Titania with Theseus and Hippolyta.

As the mechanicals, Goodness Gracious Me star Kulvinder Ghir will play Bottom, Harmage Singh Kalirai will be Peter Quince, Deven Modha will play Flute, Saikat Ahamed will be Snout, Minal Patel will be Snug and Muzz Khan will be Starveling.

The Athenians will be Neerja Naik as Hermia, Assad Zaman as Demetrius, Harry Lister Smith as Lysander and Imogen Daines as Helena, plus Sam Dastor as Egeus. Esh Alladi will be Puck and Michelle Bishop will lead the fairy chorus.

The production will be designed by Libby Watson with lighting by Mark Jonathan and sound by Drew Baumohl.

There will be a fundraising "audience with" event with Trevor Nunn, who began directing Shakespeare in his home town of Ipswich, on Wednesday 7 June.
