Touring company Oddsocks Productions is to continue its partnership with family support charity Home-Start throughout its summer tour of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night.

Derby-based Oddsocks started its Open Doors scheme during its last national tour of The Wind in the Willows. The company provided theatre experiences for families who might not ordinarily be able to access theatre.

Oddsocks worked alongside eight Home-Starts to provide 25 hours of free theatre for families and their volunteers.

Claire Jackson, senior co-ordinator at Home-Start Shropshire South, said families who benefited said they had a “fantastic evening” and were treated “like royalty”.

“They felt it was the first time in months they had laughed together as a family,” she added.

The Oddsocks tour of Much Ado About Nothing and Twelfth Night begins in June. Businesses can get involved by sponsoring Open Doors to provide local families supported by Home-Start with a theatre experience.
