Play publicity omage
Old Big 'Ead on Tour

A play about legendary football manager Brian Clough which premiered at Nottingham Playhouse is to go on an extensive tour.

Penned by Nottingham writer Stephen Lowe, Old Bid 'ead in The Spirit of the Man pays homage to the working-class hero who was often described as "the best manager England never had".

The tour is funded by the Arts Council. The play returns to Nottingham Playhouse at the end of the run. Colin Tarrant reprises his role as Clough.

"We know this production will delight audiences around the UK just as much as it did in Nottingham," said the Playhouse chief executive Stephanie Sirr.

"Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company has toured extensively in the past few years. Last year we reached 82,000 people with our touring work. We're hoping for even greater success with The Spirit of the Man."

The play tours to

  • Leicester Haymarket (March 1st to 11th);
  • Hall for Cornwall (March 14th to 18th);
  • Richmond Theatre (March 21st to 25th);
  • Forum Theatre Billingham (March 27th to April 1st);
  • Theatre Royal Brighton (April 3rd to 8th);
  • Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Mold (April 11th to 15th);
  • Sunderland Empire (April 19th to 22nd);
