A play about legendary football manager Brian Clough which premiered at Nottingham Playhouse is to go on an extensive tour. Penned by Nottingham writer Stephen Lowe, Old Bid 'ead in The Spirit of the Man pays homage to the working-class hero who was often described as "the best manager England never had". The tour is funded by the Arts Council. The play returns to Nottingham Playhouse at the end of the run. Colin Tarrant reprises his role as Clough. "We know this production will delight audiences around the UK just as much as it did in Nottingham," said the Playhouse chief executive Stephanie Sirr. "Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company has toured extensively in the past few years. Last year we reached 82,000 people with our touring work.
