Meat Pie, Sausage Roll

Oldham Coliseum Theatre is presenting a brand new musical this March set against the backdrop of Oldham Athletic Football Club’s famous 1990/1991 season, when the team were promoted to the top flight for the first time in more than 60 years.

Meat Pie, Sausage Roll follows on from 2015’s Dreamers, which was set in an infamous former Oldham nightclub. The team behind both new musicals, writers Cathy Crabb and Lindsay Williams and composer Carol Donaldson, set out to create new work that is inspired by the local community.

It’s 1990, and Oldham Athletic are flying high following the best cup-run in the club’s history. All eyes are on Latics as they fight for promotion in the league, but for bride-to-be, Amanda (Mandi), the football is causing even more drama off the pitch.

The cast includes Jenny Platt as Mandi, best known for her former role as Violet in Coronation Street, Des O’Malley as Kev, who played series regular Louis in Hollyoaks, Sakuntala Ramanee as Padma, who performed in the national tour of East is East in 2015, and Coliseum pantomime favourite Richard J Fletcher as Woody.

It runs from March 3-25.
