Spring in Oldham Oldham's Coliseum Theatre has announced its programme of productions for spring 2008. The first of the theatre's own productions in 2008 is an adaptation by Amanda Whittington of Alan Sillitoe's 1950s novel and film Saturday Night and Sunday Morning, directed by Joyce Branagh. This is followed by J B Priestley's An Inspector Calls directed by Robin Herford. Artistic director Kevin Shaw directs a comedy musical of Dick Barton Special Agent, based on the old adventure series character from British radio. The season ends with Perfect Pitch by John Godber, again directed by Shaw. Between these in-house productions, Compass Theatre Production brings its production of The Dresser by Ronald Harwood and Bruce James Productions presents an adaptation by Craig Warner of Patricia Highsmith's Strangers on a Train. There will be one-off performances in the main house of Veil from Horse + Bamboo, The Magic Flute by Swansea Opera and Bring Me Sunshine from Sanders and Martin. In the studio, Halton Actors in Residence presents The Comedy of Errors, Deckchair presents Life of a Failed Pop Star, Freehold Theatre Company presents Copenhagen by Michael Frayn and the mysterious Mr Tam Hilton invites you to The Naked Soul of Kirk Godless (part one). The Coliseum's series of children's shows at Uppermill Civic Hall continues with Doctor Nose Travels Through Time from DNA, Giraffes Can't Dance from Blunderbus Theatre based on the best-selling book by Giles Andreae and Guy Parker-Rees, and Feast from Monster Productions. In summer 2008, Oldham Theatre Workshop will present its production of Alice In Wonderland. Next year's Christmas pantomime will be Aladdin, directed by Kevin Shaw, running from November 2008 to January 2009. David Chadderton
