Old Laundry New Season Cumbria's Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness-on-Windermere, celebrating its eighteenth birthday, has announced its programme of more than fifty performance nights of theatre, film and music between September and Christmas. Stephen Joseph Theatre from Scarborough will hop over the border twice, once with its own take on Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado and the second time with Alan Ayckbourn's new play Life of Riley. North Country Theatre will present its own version of Lorca's Blood Wedding, and Library Touring Theatre will perform a musical version of Kenneth Grahame's classic collection of children's stories The Wind in the Willows. Showstopper! The Improvised Musical pops into the Lake District on its way back from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and Sitting Room Only Theatre Company will perform Patrick Barlow's comic adaptation of John Buchan's classic spy thriller The 39 Steps. LAMDA third year students will bring three productions: Helen Edmundson's adaptation of The Mill on the Floss, Simon Bent's adaptation of John Irving's A Prayer for Owen Meaney and Joe Penhall's Some Voices.
