Be an Olivier Panellist

The Society of London Theatre are inviting members of the public who are regular and knowledgeable theatre-goers to join the judging panel for the next round of the Olivier Awards (2003: winners announced in 2004). Eight form part of the theatre panel, joining four professionals. Four of the general public members concentrate on plays and four on musicals.

Those who cover plays are expected to see sixty productions between 1st January and 31st December 2003, whilst musical theatre panellists must see twenty shows. Tickets are, of course, free. The shows eligible for awards are those presented by the members of the Society of London Theatre (i.e. West End theatres) and associate members of SOLT (the Almeida, Greenwich Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs, Tricycle and Young Vic).

To apply, would-be panellist should go the the SOLT website and visit this link. Applicants must

1) Select one new play or musical that you have seen in London during the last six months and describe in no more than 150 words why you think it should receive an Award for Best Play or Best Musical. You should comment on the direction and design as well as individual performances.

2) List all the productions you have seen in London during the last twelve months.
