The Top Ten Film One-Liners
We all have our favourite lines from play and films. A recent suvey
in the UK, carried out for the Orange Word Screenwriters season at the
British Library, revealed that Britain's ten favourites were:
- "You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"
- The Italian Job;
- "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn" - Gone with
the Wind;
- "We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them
here and we want them now" Withnail and I;
- "You talkin' to me?" - Taxi Driver;
- "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" - Apocalypse
Now;
- "I'll have what she's having ..." - When Harry met
Sally;
- "All my life I wanted to be a gangster" - Goodfellas;
- "I do wish we could chat longer. But I'm having an old friend
for dinner" - Silence of the Lambs;
- "Infamy, Infamy, they've all got it in for me" - Carry
on Cleo;
- "He's not the Messiah - he's a very naughty boy" - Life
of Brian.
Not a lot of people know that!
