Theatre by the Lake in Keswick welcomes back Opera della Luna February 5 to 6 with its new production, Tales of Offenbach, from the French master of comic opera.
It premièred last autumn in London’s Wilton’s Music Hall where it gathered rave reviews, and consists of a double bill of one-act comedies, Croquefer and L’ile de Tulipatan, sung in English.
The following night, the venue welcomes The Pitmen Poets on February 7, with an evening of music, song and stories, illustrated by archive photography.
The show features four of North East England’s leading champions of its musical heritage: ex-Lindisfarne singer and songwriter Billy Mitchell, singer and instrumentalist Bob Fox, leading exponent of Tyneside song Benny Graham and acclaimed Durham songwriter Jez Lowe.
