Opera North returns to The Lowry in Salford next month with a Season of Secrets featuring four operas, each with a secret at their heart.

The tour opens with a sumptuous period staging of Richard Strauss’s comic masterpiece Der Rosenkavalier, an enticing blend of humour, pathos, romance and beautiful music.

On November 10, it stages Billy Budd, considered by many to be Britten’s greatest work. This all-male opera, set on board HMS Indomitable, is directed by Orpha Phelan.

November 11 sees Il tabarro and Suor Angelica, a double bill of Puccini’s dramatic, intense and deeply moving one-act operas.
