Hampstead to Revive Orton's Last Play

Hampstead Theatre, best known for its commitment to new writing, is to revive Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw next month. Directed by David Grindley, it will run from 19th July (previews from 14th) to 20th August.

What the Butler Saw was Orton's last play and was not seen until 1969, two years after his death. It will be Grindley's third revival, following Abigail's Party (also at Hampstead) and Journey's End.

It will be followed, from 16th June (previews from 16th) to 9th July by Three Women and a Piano Tuner by Helen Cooper, which was premiered at he Chichester Festival last year. It will be directed by Samuel West.

Currently running at Hampstead (until 11th June) are Osama the Hero and A Single Act.
