McKellen First Night Cancelled Technical problems at the Old Vic led to the cancellation of the first night of Aladdin at the Old Vic (Friday 17th December). According to a statement from the theatre, the complexity of the staging threw up some problems at the dress rehearsal which could not be solved in time for the fist night, so they were forced reluctantly to cancel. Marketing director Vivien Wallace said, "People will be able to get refunds or will be booked into other performances where we can." She said it was important the show got everything right, including health and safety issues." It will, she added, go ahead on Saturday 18th. The show stars Ian McKellen as Widow Twankey, Maureen Lipman, Roger Allam and Sam Kelly. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
