Dateline: 17th January, 2007 New Page to Stage Series Nick Hern Books has launched a new series of books under the general title of Page to Stage. The new series offers accessible guides to the world's best-known plays, aimed at students, actors and directors. Taking us through the play scene by scene, the authors show how choices made in staging, characterisation, setting etc vitally affect the way we understand its meaning. The first two books were published on 15th January. Stephen Unwin, artistic director of English Touring Theatre, is the author of Ibsen's A Doll's House. He has directed five of Ibsen's plays for ETT, including A Doll's House. His other books include So You Want to be a Theatre Director? and A Pocket Guide to Ibsen, Chekhov and Strindberg (with Michael Pennington). Chekhov's Three Sisters is by actor Michael Pennington. His other books include User's Guides to three of Shakespeare's plays and Are You There, Crocodile?: Inventing Anton Chekhov. Both books cost £8.99. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
