Paul Burns has been appointed associate director of Dance4 and will join the Nottingham-based organisation from August 2017 until July 2018.

Dance4 aims to capitalise on its move to the international Centre for Choreography (iC4C) and develop its festival Nottdance.

For the past year, Burns has been associate director at Greenwich Dance. Previously he was interim artistic director at Yorkshire Dance and also has a freelance consultancy across a range of art forms.

Burns said, “I’ve long admired Dance4’s work with artists, especially those exploring the radical edges of dance and choreography. I’m really excited to be joining the team and supporting this work, especially within the extraordinary facilities of iC4C.”

Dance4’s artistic director and chief executive Paul Russ said, “this will be a great opportunity for Paul to use his experience in further strengthening the Dance4 proposition to ensure that we are prepared and future-proofed for the exciting developments ahead.”

Dance4, an Arts Council England national portfolio organisation, has received a 25% increase, with its funding going up from £1.4 million to £2.3 million from 2018 until 2022.
