Dateline: 5th October, 2005

The opening night of Howard Brenton's latest play, Paul, at the National Theatre tomorrow (6th October) has been cancelled due to the illness of leading actor Paul Rhys. Previews yesterday and today were also cancelled.

Earlier this year Rhys withdrew from the Barbican BITE:05 production of Julius Caesar because of illness and he withdrew from the NT Ivanov in 2002 because of a bereavement.

No announcement has yet been made about when the play will open.
