Performer Penny Arcade, former Warhol Superstar and cultural icon of the New York underground, closes her B!D!F!W! show at the Old Vic Tunnels with a party in solidarity with gaoled Russian punk band Pussy Riot.

The party after the final performance on Saturday 1 September will feature a rare solo performance by Viv Albertine of English all-female punk band The Slits and also from DJ Mark Moore of S'Express.

Penny Arcade said, "The recent imprisoning of Pussy Riot, along with Putin's courts formally banning Gay Pride marches for 100 years in Moscow, is the harbinger of a new gulag in the Soviet Union, a systematic attack on freedom of speech. In the west we silence queers and women by marginalizing them and keeping them obscure. There is only one hatred and there is only one unity; the people united cannot be divided!"

The director of Old Vic Tunnels Hamish Jenkinson added, "As part of the worldwide creative family, The Old Vic Tunnels is delighted to celebrate the culmination of New York legend Penny Arcade's smash hit show with an event we all hope will draw attention to the unjust case brought against Russia's premier punk band, Pussy Riot."

Tickets for Saturday can be bought either for the performance plus the party or just for the party. A proportion of the proceeds will go to support the work of Amnesty International.
