Spooky edge and glorious tunes: The Dreaming

Aspiring performers and musicians are being invited to audition for The Dreaming, a community production at Lichfield Garrick.

Howard Goodall has teamed up with lyricist Charles Hart to create this musical version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It is said to have a “distinctly spooky edge mixed with superb comedy and glorious tunes”.

Garrick artistic director Tim Ford said, “anyone from the age of eight to 80 can audition and actors of all backgrounds, ethnicity and gender are welcome. Experience in performing in musicals isn’t necessary.

“We’re particularly keen to hear from boys aged 12 to 18 who have a strong singing background and men aged 18 to 25.”

Ford is also looking for people to be part of the backstage, marketing and creative teams. Application forms can be downloaded at the Lichfield Garrick web site.

Auditions will be held at the Garrick from Wednesday 5 until Saturday 8 April. The Dreaming runs at the theatre from Monday 31 July until Saturday 5 August.
