Pint Sized Plays

After a successful start last year, there will be another Pint Sized Plays festival in Pembokeshire in 2009 and entries are cuurently invited from playwrights.

Pint-sized Plays is an opportunity to show just how imaginative and original a 5-10 minute play can be. The organisers are looking for plays which show that small is beautiful and which use a pub situation in the most interesting, surprising, dramatic or funny way possible.

Plays should have a minimum of two and maximum of three characters and be capable of being staged in a pub, using only such furniture that is there, but adding any costumes or props that can be carried by the cast.

The ten winning plays will all be performed in pubs in Pembrokeshire starting this Autumn during the Tenby Arts Festival and then in other pubs around the county. In October there will also be a 'script slam' in a theatre which showcases the ten winning plays and lets the audience vote for their favourite, which is then awarded the coveted 'Pint-pot', plus a 'Half-pint' for the runner-up.

The closing date June 30th, 2009, and would-be entrants can download an entry form from www.pintsizedplays.org.uk.

The first performance will be during Tenby Arts Festival. Three plays will be performed in three pubs on one evening and three more in three other pubs the following evening. A selection of these plays will then be taken forward to other pubs in Pembrokeshire. The Script Slam will be held in Fishguard's Theatr Gwaun on 10th October.
