The Pod Expands

The Pod, a new venue at last year's Edinburgh Fringe, is expanding this year. There will now be two Pod venues: the Pod itself this year will be relocated at the Centre for Sports and Exercise, next door to The Pleasance Courtyard, and Pod Deco will take over the Odeon cinema on Clerk Street.

Pod Deco will have five performance spaces with a total capacity of 1,200.

Both venues will serve up a mixture of comedy, music, theatre and children's entertainment. Performers already booked include the Tiger Lilies, Jenny Éclair and Trestle Theatre Company.

Paul Gudgin, Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe commented today, "New to Edinburgh last year, The Pod was one of the Fringe’s biggest hits, presenting an innovative programme in a great venue. We are delighted that The Pod will return and thrilled that the arrival of Pod Deco will mean the opening of a new Fringe venue right in the heart of the city."
