Political Futures: Alternative Theatre in Britain Today

According to the conference website, alternative theatre both reflects and reacts against mainstream obsessions is apparent in its concern with spectacle, new technologies, the body, performance/performativity, the notion of ‘event’, but there are also shared interests in terms of issues, such as multi-culturalism and globalisation , environmentalism, gender, nationalism/ nationhood, disaffection with traditional politics (and a rejection of the State of the Nation Theatre), and questions around bodily modification and interventions, cyborgs and virtual bodies, etc.

The costs are:

Residential fee: £210

Non-residential fee: £170

Student residential fee: £180

Student non-residential fee £120

The residential fee includes two night’s en suite accommodation, bed and breakfast (Friday and Saturday), and all other meals and refreshments. The non-residential fee includes lunch, dinner and refreshments. The fees do not include beverages from the conference bar.
