Push 04

Push 04 is a season of new theatre, ballet and opera created and performed by some of the most exciting and original black British artists in the UK today. The season is a collaboration between Push 04, the Almeida Theatre, ROH2 at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera.

From 30th August to 11th September at the Almeida Theatre

Two Step, a new play by Rhashan Stone, directed by Josette Bushell-Mingo.

Peckham, 2004. Lenny turns up on Mona’s doorstep after thirty years apart. He is looking for forgiveness. She’s looking for the man he used to be. She cannot forget the past; he was too drunk to remember it. The mood moves from mischief to malice as the heat that drove them apart re-ignites and long-buried emotions resurface. Carmen Munroe features in this haunting, razor sharp battle of revenge and forgiveness.

At Sadler's Wells from 16th to 18th September

Awakening is a new ballet choreographed by Ben Love to music by Paul Gladstone Reid. One man's epic journey brings him to the valley of the dead, where he sees a blissful vision of the world beyond, and must choose life or death.

Another America: Fire is a new opera composed and written by Errollyn Wallen and directed by Indhu Rubasingham. Set in 2014, the first black American female astronaut is about to fly to Mars. A soaring chorus of fire and fear haunt her as she faces losing all that is most precious to her, to make this groundbreaking mission.
