Qdos Acquires the Orchard, Dartford

Qdos Entertainment's venue management company HQ Theatres is to take over the management of the Orchard Theatre in Dartford (owned by Dartford Borough Council), making it the sixth in the company's portfolio of regional theatres. It is also tendering for the contracts to run the Watford Colosseum and new theatres in Aylesbury and Hemel Hempstead. If it is successful in these bids, it will have almost the same number of theatres outside of London as the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), which has ten.

There is also the possibility that the company will be invited to tender for the management of the Churchill in Bromley, currently run by ATG, as that contract runs out in 2010. The tendering process is expected to be completed by August.

The largest regional theatre management company is Live Nation, with seventeen regional venues, in addition to a number of arenas.

Qdos is also Britain's largest pantomime producing company, mounting shows in over twenty venues nationwide in the Christmas 2008 season.
