A merry panto: Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood

Casting has been announced for Nottingham Playhouse’s 2018 panto Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood which as usual will be written and directed by Kenneth Alan Taylor.

Tim Frater and Kelly Agredo will play Robin Hood and Maid Marian. Playhouse favourite John Elkington will take to the stage as Nurse Nellie Noggins alongside Rebecca Little as Tilly Tuck the Tomboy. Robin Kingsland will be the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

Frater was Buttons, Agredo took the lead, Elkington was an ugly sister and Little played Dowager Duchess Devilla in Cinderella at the Playhouse in 2017.

The Playhouse will feature two adult chorus members in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood, providing an opportunity for recently graduated performers to gain their first professional credit. The panto will run from Friday 30 November until Saturday 19 January 2019.

As a seasonal treat for smaller children, the Playhouse will create a festive retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairytale The Elves and the Shoemaker. It will run in the Neville Studio from Wednesday 12 December until Saturday 5 January 2019.

Playhouse artistic director Adam Penford said, “2018 is proving to be a really exciting time. The response from audiences and critics alike to our productions has been fantastic and we’ve exceeded our ticket sales targets.

“The autumn is set to be even bigger and better, with ever more ambitious productions and top-notch talent creating work for our stages.”
