Touring across the UK as well as international performances in Germany and the US (the world première of new piece Chacony accompanied by a live string quartet), the upcoming season from Richard Alston Dance Company includes An Italian in Madrid, for which Liam Riddick was recently nominated for Outstanding Male Performance (Modern) for his role as Prince Ferdinand and Vidya Patel was nominated for Outstanding Female Performance for her role as Princess Maria Barbara.

Liam Riddick has previously been nominated five times for the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for Outstanding Male Performance whilst BBC Young Dancer grand finalist Vidya Patel was recently nominated for Emerging Artist.

Other highlights include Alston’s popular Gypsy Mixture which will be revived for the first time in a decade, bringing with it a 21st-century take on traditional Balkan folk music. The internationally inspired programme continues from Nomadic, mixing Asian-influenced traditional Romany singing to Isthmus Remix with music by Japanese composer Jo Kondo, and the revival of Dutiful Ducks, which was created for Michael Clark in 1982, now danced by Liam Riddick.

Alston is renowned for having a very close relationship with his music, taking inspiration for his work directly from the music he uses, to use the music as a point of departure for the choreography.
