Rourke to Take Charge at the Bush Josie Rourke has been appointed the new artistic director of the Bush Theatre in Shepherd's Bush and will take over on 10th April, following Mike Bradwell who has been there for ten years. Rourke, who was born in Salford and went to Cambridge University, begna her career as Carlton Assistant Director at the Donmar Warehouse where she worked with Michael Grandage, Nicholas Hytner, Phyllida Lloyd and Sam Mendes. She then moved to the National as assistant to Peter Gill on Luther, then to ETT and the Royal Court. She has also worked at Sheffield Theatres, the Old Vic, the RSC (where she directed Believe What You Will and King John) and the Young Vic. Most recently she directed Mamet's The Cryptogram at the Donmar. "The Bush inspires, nurtures and champions playwrights," she said, "and I am thrilled to have been invited to become its artistic director. I look forward to working with Fiona Clark (executive director), the directors and the staff of the theatre to take the Bush into its bold and promising future." Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
