Accessed via the BBC's Shakespeare portal at www.bbc.co.uk/shakespeare, the resource is based around RSC productions of three Shakespeare plays: Michael Boyd's Macbeth with Jonathan Slinger as Macbeth and Aislin McGuckin as Lady Macbeth, Rupert Goold's Romeo and Juliet with Sam Troughton as Romeo, Mariah Gale as Juliet and Jonjo O'Neill as Mercutio and Nancy Meckler's A Midsummer Night's Dream with Pippa Nixon as Titania, Jo Stone-Fewings as Oberon, Lucy Briggs-Owen as Helena, Alex Hassell as Demetrius, Felix Hayes as Bottom and Christopher Godwin as Peter Quince.

For each play, three key scenes are examined through the rehearsal process with comments from the actors and director through some short film clips on the site, focusing on the way the text is interpreted by actors and directors to bring it to life on stage.

BBC Learning's executive producer Rebecca Simor said, "Shakespeare Unlocked has enabled us to create fantastically rich content and resources for both students and teachers who want to delve deeper into these famous plays. By working with the RSC, we’ve been able to provide a fascinating insight into how actors and directors interpret material and bring it to life for audiences in ways that make the texts feel as relevant today as they were when they were written."

The online resources went live on 1 April and teachers' packs for secondary schools will be published at the end of April.
