As in Newcastle, the professional ensemble will be joined on stage by an inter-generational community cast of eight local children, aged four to nine, selected from creative workshops at schools in each tour venue. Four older people, aged 65+, will also be selected to take part in Rumpelstiltskin from creative workshops at local community groups in each location.

In total, the company has worked with over 600 children in preparation for the tour

Gavin Coward, balletLORENT Creative Associate, who worked throughout the country with the children and who also plays Rumpelstiltskin, said, “children keep you on your feet, their sense of curiosity and wonder is incredible to witness and work with. We have meet some joyous children and lovely families from all over the country.

“The best thing about running the workshops is seeing all of the children completely transfixed and engaged in creative movement and being able to offer this opportunity to local communities, children and their families.”
