Wartime Comedy to Tour Philip King's 1940s comedy See How They Run, which was first performed at London's Comedy Theatre, is to set off on a national tour on 15th February. Philip King was the forerunner of the Whitehall farces and ultimately paved the way for such well loved British comedy as Dad's Army. During Britain's darkest hours it was unashamedly escapist and there is a joy in the extraordinary situations in which normally respectable people find themselves. The Touring Partnership promises to bring back the feel good factor and give audiences across the country a good old fashioned evening of laughter. Its 1942 in the idyllic village of Merton-cum Middlewick and the residents are bracing themselves for imminent German invasion. However, there are more pressing matters at hand at the local vicarage, home to the Reverend Lionel Toop, his wayward former actress wife Penelope and Ida the incompetent maid. A classic case of mistaken identity is the catalyst for rumours and cassocks to fly. The vicarage is overrun with bishops, nosey neighbours, more vicars and an escaped prisoner of war. Uniforms are lost, found, begged and borrowed as chaos runs riot. And just when things cant get any worse, they do The revival is directed by Douglas Hodge and the cast inlcudes Jo Stone-Fewings, Benjamin Whitrow, Hattie Morahan, Simon Wilson, Nicholas Blane, Adrian Fear, Chris Macdonnell and Natalie Grady.
