Shakespeare and Islam
The Globe is to hold a series of lectures and readings illustrating
the attitudes of Shakespeare and his contemporaries towards Islam this
coming week to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Othello.

- Pass the Kleenex: The Handkerchief in the Islamic Middle East: a
talk by Dr Patricia Baker on the symbolism of the handkerchief (17th
March)
- Terrible Turks?: Fashion and Fantasy in English Drama: Dr Mark Hutchings
looks at the fascination Turkey and the Ottoman Empire had for the
English (24th March)

- Tamburlaine by Christopher Marlowe: Part I on 14th March,
Part II on 28th.
