Spring at Sherman Cymru

This January sees the official launch of Cardiff's Sherman Cymru Theatre, formed last year from the merger of new writing company Sgript Cymru and the Sherman Theatre Company. Along with a new look and a new website, the launch season includes an impressive line-up of internationally acclaimed companies, performers and artists.

The programme reflects the company's commitment to new writng, with the Sherman Cymru's first English language new-writing production since the launch, Katie O' Reilly's The Almond and the Seahorse.

Also announced is SpringBoard, a new initiative supporting emerging writers, to include a new writing festival in April. (Details later in the year)

Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru return to the Sherman in March, with Y Pair, a new Welsh translation of Arthur Miller's The Crucible. With a cast of seventeen this promises to be one of the largest ever Welsh language productions for the stage.

This season's line-up also reflects Chris Ricketts' laudable commitment to build the Sherman Cymru's relationships with major UK companies, most of which have been rarely seen in Wales until now.

In March, the Royal Shakespeare Company presents a stage adaptation of Malorie Blackman's best selling novel Noughts and Crosses. Internationally acclaimed physical theatre company DV8 come to the Sherman in April with To Be Straight With You, a dance, text and multi-media look at prejudice and discrimination. And also in April, The Michael Clark Company present Mmm…Stravinsky Project Part 2, a sexually charged exploration of life, birth and death, from one of the UK's most significant dancers and choreographers.

Including a continued commitment to local theatre and youth initiatives, as well as an impressive comedy line-up, this season's productions are as follows:
