Terror 2005 publicity image
Shock! Horror! in Southwark

Following the sell-out success of last year¹s Terror 2004, The Sticking Place is launching a new Festival of horror theatre for the Halloween season at the Union Theatre, Southwark. It runs from October 11th - November 5th (Tuesdays to Saturdays at 7.30pm). Tickets, avilable from the box office on 020 7261 9876, are £12, £10 concessions. There will be also a Halloween Special - October 31st at 7.30pm - for which tickets are £15.

In a climate where Terror has become The Enemy, rather than something inside all of us, The Sticking Place will invite the audience to be both terrorized and terrified as they examine our relationship with the most basic human instinct - fear.

Terror 2005 is an entire season of plays, dramas, and other bizarre and unusual events including classic, cult and comic book horror, and a Dark Third Act in which anything could happen. (Some material not suitable for under-18's.)

Sticking Place artistic director Adam Meggido has curated the season and Matt Peover (tipped by The Guardian as one of the top ten directors to watch out for) will direct a rep company for the Dark Third Act - where devised and experimental work will shape a Grand Guignol for the 21st century.

  • Original translations of Grand Guignol classics.
  • New adaptations from Edgar Allan Poe, Graham Greene, WW Jacobs, HG Wells, Robert Frost, Maquis de Sade.
  • Dark cabaret, magic, and other curtain-raisers.
  • A Halloween special on October 31st (with different programme)
  • A horror art/photographic exhibition.
