Theatre on the Bristol Streets Show Of Strength (SOS) invited ten of Britains most exciting writers to create 10 minute dramas about trade: trade yesterday and trade today. The plays will be performed on a "walk of discovery ... in Bristols lost locations". The Show, Trade It?, runs from 24th June to 6th July (no performance Monday 30th June). The walk starts from the Horse & Rider statue at the bottom of Christmas Steps, Lewins Mead, and finishes at Temple Church Gardens/City Inn. Umbrellas will be provided if wet, but dress for weather /walking this is theatre on the go! The first half unsuitable for wheelchairs, so Saturday matinees with all plays included are in one easy location: Temple Church Gardens, Temple Rose Street entrance (behind City Inn, Temple Way). The plays, which will be performed by eight Bristol actors directed by Robin Belfield, are by Edson Burton, Jenny Davis, Madge Dresser, Sheila Hannon, Lucy Heywood, Catherine Johnson, Mustapha Matura, Rob Mitchell, Sandi Toksvig and Suzanne Worrica. Show Of Strength has produced new work in non theatre spaces for over twenty years, and created three informal, intimate and accessible new venues in Bristol most recently the Tobacco Factory (1998).
Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
