The Dance Consortium presents Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's m¡longa on a UK tour for 2017.

The tour opened at The Lowry, Salford Quays on 16 May 2017 and heads to Brighton, London, Birmingham, Southampton, Saffron Walden, Nottingham and Edinburgh, concluding at Theatre Royal, Newcastle on 17 June.

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is a Sadler’s Wells Associate Artist internationally renowned for his work with artists including Akram Khan and Maria Pagès and for works such as Sutra and Babel.

Inspired by the late night tango scene in intimate bars across Buenos Aires, Cherkaoui draws on traditional tango influences and adds a contemporary twist in m¡longa.

Created in 2013 for a cast of 17 performers—ten Argentinean tango dancers, two contemporary dancers and five musicians—Cherkaoui explores the social and choreographic vocabulary of Argentinian tango and brings his own unique choreographic style.
