Dateline: 27th October, 2005
Frank Sinatra will perform at the London Palladium in March next year, even though he died in May 1998. Thanks to new digital imaging and sound technology, Sinatra on film - giant screen projections from his many film and television appearances - will perform with live musicians and dancers. Multiple moving screens will enable his image to be projected to twenty feet in height. The Sinatra family has given the producers access to a lot of previously unseen footage. This is not some earnest tribute or a biopic; it is definitely not that," said director David Leveaux. "It is just a celebration of Frank and it uses his own words to tell his story." Leveaux's Broadway credits include The Glass Menagerie (2005), Jumpers (2004), Fiddler on the Roof (2004), The Real Thing (2000), Electra (1998 - 1999), Anna Christie (1993) and A Moon for the Misbegotten (1984). The show, which opens on 8th March (previews from 17th February), was first performed under the title Sinatra: His Voice, His World, His Way at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Please note that all three Archive indices are very long and will therefore take some time to download.
