Singer-songwriter Katie Brayben leads in new musical

Singer-songwriter Katie Brayben has been cast in the title role of new musical Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, which opens in February in the West End.

Brayben can currently be seen as Princess Diana in King Charles III. Amongst her other stage credits are American Psycho: a new musical thriller, Joking Apart, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ragtime and Company.

Playing opposite Brayben is Alan Morrissey as her husband and song-writing partner Gerry Goffin. Glynis Barber and Gary Trainor play King's parents and Lorna Want plays song-writer Cynthia Weil.

Beautiful - The Carole King Musical covers the life of Carole King and her rise to superstardom. Her first hit was "Will You Love Me Tomorrow"; her album Tapestry won the Grammy Awards for record, song and album of the year.

The book of Beautiful is by Douglas McGrath with words and music by Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
