Sky Helps Chicken Shed to Make It Big

The Chicken Shed Theatre Company has been selected as BSkyB’s Make it Big Charity Partner – a decision that will be worth at least £1 million to the charity over the next three years.

Mary Ward, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of The Chicken Shed Theatre Company, said, “This is without a doubt the most important opportunity for Chicken Shed in the last ten years. It is a wonderful way for us to celebrate our 30th Anniversary, as for the first time we have a major long-term commitment from a commercial partner who shares and understands our passion to introduce more people to inclusive theatre. It is with great anticipation that we look forward to working with Sky - its staff and customers – on many ground breaking projects.”

The Chicken Shed Theatre Company works to encourage young people from all backgrounds and of all abilities to produce high quality performances. Their selection as the Make It Big partner will enable them to establish a national presence for their highly renowned work, enabling young people across the country to develop their performing talents, and establishing inclusive theatre groups as community resources.

James Murdoch, Chief Executive of BSkyB and a member of the selection panel, said, “Chicken Shed have a vision and passion for delivering inclusive entertainment, as we do at Sky. We are looking forward to working with everyone at Chicken Shed, learning from them and supporting them to ‘make it big.’”

Full details of the partnership will be announced by BSkyB and the Chicken Shed Theatre Company at the official Make It Big launch in the autumn.
