Nottingham Theatre Photo Competition

Calling all photographers: Nottingham Playhouse is looking for the best photograph of Sky Mirror, the landmark installation from the Turner prize-winning artist Anish Kapoor, for use on postcards.

Sky Mirror, on the Playhouse forecourt, is an acclaimed piece of art that has been admired over the past couple of years since it was erected. The Playhouse would like to celebrate Sky Mirror with a postcard that will be sold at the theatre. The Playhouse is inviting people to submit their own pictures to be used on the postcard.

Made in Finland from stainless steel, Sky Mirror weighs nearly ten tonnes and was shipped to the UK for polishing. About 150 cubic meters of concrete and 10 tonnes of steel were used to reinforce the forecourt area.

Photographs can be taken of Sky Mirror by day or night, and can be submitted as either hard copy photographs or digital images.

As well as having his or her photo made into a postcard, the winner will also receive a pair of tickets to the press night of the Nottingham Playhouse production of The Hound of the Baskervilles on Wednesday, September 8th. The closing date for the competition is August 20th.

Digital images of Sky Mirror should be e-mailed to enquiry@nottinghamplayhouse.co.uk with the subject heading Sky Mirror Competition. Hard copy photographs should be posted to

Sky Mirror Competition,
Nottingham Playhouse,
Wellington Circus,
Nottingham NG1 5AF

Entrants should submit entries with their full contact details (name, address and telephone number). Hard copy photographs should have the entrant's full name and telephone number on the back. Nottingham Playhouse is unable to return photographs.
