Bristol-based company Sleepdogs presents its new touring work The Bullet and the Bass Trombone at The Studio of Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre May 1-2.
A symphony orchestra arrives in the capital city of a tropical country, to play a new piece of music by a contemporary composer. On the day of the première, before they even set foot in the concert hall, a military coup erupts around them.
As the city becomes a war zone, the players are forced to venture from their hotels, some miles apart, to try and re-unite with their colleagues.
Performed in Sleepdogs’ trademark sparse, crafted and clear style, the work is the latest in a series by the company which investigates storytelling, narrative, sound and music.
