Mansfield Palace Theatre has teamed up with the Nottinghamshire town’s Old Library Theatre to stage small-scale drama.

Two shows have already been booked and more will follow in 2015.

The Palace Theatre’s cultural services manager Andrew Tucker said, “The Palace Theatre prides itself on its range of entertainment. We have now joined forces with our neighbours, the County Youth Arts in the Old Library, to make use of its studio. This way we can jointly present small-scale drama with one or two actors in a show on a fairly frequent basis.

“We hope that by doing this we will bring a lot of very different work to Mansfield that might otherwise not be seen locally. The subject matter of the pieces selected is also very varied, something that we hope audiences will find very appealing.”

Two Gents Productions will present Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew on Thursday 2 October while James Swanton will perform Charles Dickens’s Sikes and Nancy on Thursday 30 October.

BOND by Gavin Robertson will be the attraction on Thursday 5 February followed by An Extraordinary Light by Rob Johnston on Thursday 12 March.
